COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Three people whose car got stuck on railroad tracks as they were trying to elude Commerce City police narrowly escaped injury by abandoning the vehicle just before it was hit by a train.

Two men and a woman were arrested after the collision near Highway 2 late Sunday. Police had pursued them after reports that they were firing gunshots at a soccer field near Gala Gardens. Their identities weren’t immediately available.

According to The Denver Post (), the car’s driver veered off a road and tried to drive over the tracks. All three people abandoned the car just before it was struck by a Burlington Northern train.
