Interview with Amanda Jozsa, owner/dentist
How did you get involved in this business?
I graduated from Colorado College with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2003 and a strong desire to help people, but was not set on any certain path. I quickly came to realize dentistry would be a career in which I could make a positive difference in people’s lives. I set out to fulfill that goal; in May of 2010, I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. In addition, I always wanted the opportunity to partner with a growing community, which I found in Edgewater.
What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
Our team at Edgewater Modern Dentistry strives to treat each patient as an individual and work with them to achieve their own dental goals. Unlike many other offices, we have an endodontist, oral surgeon and periodontist on staff, so our patients can get the comprehensive care they desire in one location. We constantly strive to be mindful of our patients’ time. My office has access to some of the best technology available in dentistry. This technology allows us to complete all-porcelain crowns in one visit, utilize digital X-rays — greatly reducing the patient’s exposure to radiation — and perform same-day whitening treatments.
What do you like best about your line of work?
My patients. I love the opportunity to help people smile. Dental health is important for the mind and body. From simple procedures to the very complex, I am honored to have the opportunity to help my patients.
What is your business’ biggest challenge?
Overcoming patients’ reservations about dentistry in general is always a challenge. We make it a point to instill in our patients a positive outlook on dentistry.

We support charity: Water to help build wells in Ethiopia. Throughout the year, you will also see us supporting local food banks, the Denver Rescue Mission, Toys for Tots, the Edgewater Farmers Market, the Cash Scanlon Phillips Foundation and many more groups.
