Interview with Lindsey Czarnek, owner
How did you get involved in this business?
While I was in college, my dad was the landlord to this little doughnut shop. There came an opportunity to buy the business and I jumped at it. I had never baked a doughnut in my life – the previous owner trained me on all of his original recipes. Donut Hut has now been in business for almost 40 years. I have been the proud owner for the past 10 years and have fallen in love with the art of baking.
What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
What we hear, most frequently, is that our sense of community distinguishes us from other places. The staff gets to know the students and there is a sense of being seen and known.
What do you like best about your line of work?
I love the whole process of making doughnuts. Baking has become a creative passion of mine.
What is your business’ biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is staying true to what I do and not get too caught up in every trend.
Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
