A school in the northwest metro area is on lock down Wednesday afternoon because of a nearby police barricade situation.
The incident has affected the Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, 5301 Lowell Blvd., a school staffer said.
Adams County sheriff’s deputies have a house near the school surrounded and are trying to coax someone inside to come out, said Sgt. Paul Gregory, a sheriff’s spokesman.
Drivers should avoid the area, if possible, until the standoff is resolved.
The charter school, with about 354 students, lets out at 4 p.m.
If the situation is not resolved, students will be released through a “controlled dismissal” and parents will have to pick up children and sign them out.
