Judy Collins has had a few lifetimes’ worth of success: singles that have charted from the ’60s up to the ’90s, 20 studio albums, a Grammy award and plenty of social activism along the way through UNICEF. Now the singer-songwriter/activist can add to that list an accolade that comes from the state she grew up in — an induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony takes place on Nov. 8 at the Paramount Theatre and also includes a performance by Collins. The event also features other Hall of Fame inductees the Serendipity Singers, Bob Lin and Chris Daniels. ($38-$99, VIP $200, )
Emotional and drifting, Mazzy Star‘s pop music from the mid-’90s led the way for a number of contemporary dream-pop acts. But after three albums, the band abruptly went on hiatus after 1996’s “Among My Swan.” Now as the band’s sound is making a comeback with younger musicians, Mazzy Star has chosen the perfect time to release its first album in 17 years. The band’s new album, “Seasons of Your Day,” calls to mind Mazzy Star’s biggest hits from the ’90s — “Fade into You” and “Into Dust” — while sounding modern. The band plays Denver’s Ogden Theatre on Nov. 10. ($35, )
