COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado College is defending a question on job applications asking about gender that is considered by some people to be a slur.

An optional question lists five choices, including male, female, transgender, no answer and a fifth question asking if they are “queer.”

The Denver Post reports ( ) Colorado College officials believe they have nothing to apologize for.

College officials say using the term on job applications is intended to represent the college’s acknowledgment of diversity.
