Sofia Coppola should direct every video. Not just because her newest for the band’s “Chloroform” is emotional, gripping and in some purply black and white, but because she’s married to Phoenix lead singer Thomas Mars.
The video is streaming It also , who talks about where she got the inspiration for her first video directed for her husband’s band. Her brother Roman Coppola has directed a number of videos for the band, including “Funky Squaredance,” which was added to a permanent collection at MoMa.
“I wanted to show they were at a Phoenix concert, but keep them afar and mysterious, and have the focus be on the girls,” Sofia about the Phoenix video. “I wanted the video to be about the girls losing it over the band, and that feeling you have when you think a band is romantic.”
