Jest commenting. A man contacted Golden police to report overhearing members of the cleaning crew at The Golden Hotel,1100 Washington Ave., on Nov. 6 discussing how easy it would be to rob the hotel. Officers contacted two members, who said the comments were simply in jest and they had no intentions of stealing.

Gunman encountered at Habitat for Humanity. A woman called the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office to report a suspicious incident Nov. 5 at Habitat for Humanity, 1232 Bergen Parkway, Evergreen. She told police that when she tried to patronize the resale shop, she found it closed but saw a TV on inside. Thinking this odd, she entered through an unlocked back door, where she was met with a man holding a gun. The man did not threaten her, but asked her to leave. Officers could not locate this man.

Baleful robo-call. A resident of the 2900 block of Interlocken Drive, Evergreen, reported a suspicious incident Nov. 6. She told Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies that around 4 p.m. she received a voicemail on her home phone in which an automated voice said, “Headline message. Hello Judy. Judy this is Jeff. You have seven days to live. Thank you for using text-to-land line.” She called the number back and a young man named Jeff told her she had the wrong number. Jeff did not return deputies’ calls.

Hook and fish missing from statue. A resident of the 16300 block of Wild Berry Road, south of Morrison, called Jeffco deputies Nov. 5 to report the theft of a hook and a fish from a statue in his yard. The case is open pending further information.
