DENVER—Auditors say several historic emancipation documents in the Denver library collection are at risk for environmental damage and theft.
Treasures at risk include emancipation papers from the 1830s, a first edition of the Book of Mormon and a Pikes Peak Gold Rush diary from 1859.
According to the Denver Post ( ), library official agree with the Denver auditor’s office recommendations and will begin raising funds to correct climate control and security problems.
