LONGMONT — Investigators determined that a Thursday night blaze that destroyed an apartment complex was an accident.

According to the Longmont Times-Call, officials now call the six-unit building at 1322 S. Coffman St. a “total loss.” Twenty-five people were displaced.

When residents lit the first fire of the year, firefighters believe, the chimney chase combusted and triggered an explosion in the attic of the building.
