Sirhan Sirhan, the man convicted of murdering Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, was transferred to a different prison Friday, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of the senator’s brother, President John F. Kennedy.
Officials with the Richard J. Donovan Correction Facility in San Diego confirmed to The Denver Post that Sirhan was transferred there from Corcoran State Prison.
The move was a coincidence and had been planned for some time, said Patrick Logan, spokesman for Richard J. Donovan Correction Facility.
On June 5, 1968, Sirhan shot and killed Kennedy in the Ambassador Hotel kitchen area in Los Angeles shortly after the presidential candidate finished addressing supporters in the hotel’s main ballroom.
