GREELEY —The Greeley man arrested on suspicion of killing his wife Friday told police the couple had been going through marital problems that put him on the streets before he ultimately woke her and stabbed her in the chest with a carving knife, an arrest affidavit states.
Juan Manuel Velasquez-Trinidad, 51, at 12:25 p.m. Friday went to the front desk of the police station less than a half mile from his home to report he had stabbed his wife.
When authorities responded to the couple’s home in the 800 block of 31st Avenue, they found Martha Velasquez, 47, suffering from severe knife wounds to the chest,
Velasquez-Trinidad, told authorities his wife had kicked him out of the house about a week before because of his alcoholism and occasional methamphetamine use, the affidavit states.
