After vowing to rebuild when Colorado’s devastating floods submerged RockyGrass’ home of Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, festival organizers have announced the preliminary lineup for the 2014 event. The initial lineup includes, Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby, Sam Bush Bluegrass Band, Hot Rize, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Jerry Douglas and more. The 42nd RockyGrass Festival is scheduled for July 25-27.

Tickets go on sale Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. at . Three-day passes are priced at $135; single-day tickets are $60.

As Planet Bluegrass is being rebuilt throughout the coming year, a few improvements are planned to the grounds, including a new bowl seating area, a beach and family area, a remodeled wildflower pavilion and native revegetation throughout the property, festival organizers said in a news release.

During the floods, several feet of rushing water flowed through the 20-acre RockyGrass grounds.

“There’s a lot of destruction,” Brian Eyster, a Planet Bluegrass employee and Lyons resident, said during the September floods. “The worst thing that happened on the Ranch that we know about is one of the offices floated down the river. It’s totally gone.”

But, he said then, Planet Bluegrass was “100 percent committed” to bringing RockyGrass 2014 to the ranch July 25-27.

“Just on the emotional power alone, it’ll be the best RockyGrass ever. It has to be,” he said.
