ERIE, Colo.—Boulder County authorities say a homebuilt plane has crashed northwest of Erie, killing the only person on board.
The Longmont Times-Call reported Wednesday () that the Smyth Sidewinder, a homebuilt kit aircraft, crashed about 12:45 p.m. in county open space.
Sheriff’s officials said the 66-year-old pilot was killed. The pilot’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating the accident.
