DENVER—A suburban Denver woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of her housemate and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
KMGH-TV reports () Melissa Miller pleaded guilty Wednesday in district court in Park County, where Leann “Annie” Meyer’s remains were found on July 4.
Meyer disappeared from her home in the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge in February. Miller was arrested July 15.
Her mother, Pat Meyer, said didn’t think a 20-year sentence was enough, but the plea averts the possibility of a jury finding Miller not guilty.
Miller must also serve five years of parole after her release.
