STRASBURG, Colo.—Authorities have identified a man shot and killed in a confrontation with deputies in Strasburg as 48-year-old Scott Pfeffer of Agate.
The coroner released Pfeffer’s name Friday.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department says the deputies were responding to report of a man with a gun at Rookies Saloon and Diner in Strasburg, about 35 miles east of downtown Denver.
Authorities say Pfeffer fled and pointed a shotgun at the deputies, and they fired at him. Authorities haven’t said whether more than one deputy’s shots hit Pfeffer.
The deputies’ names haven’t been released.
The incident was in Arapahoe County but the deputies were from adjacent Adams County. Arapahoe County officials asked Adams County to respond because its deputies were closer.
The district attorney’s office is investigating.
