After almost 14 years, are going on “a pretty extreme hiatus,” the indie-rock band’s Peter Bauer

While this doesn’t mean the band is completely breaking up, Bauer said “the band has no immediate plans to continue as the Walkmen” after a few upcoming shows.

“We have no future plans whatsoever,” Bauer told the Washington Post. “I’d call it a pretty extreme hiatus.”

The band’s debut album, “Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone,” was released in 2002 and its seventh studio album, “Heaven,” came out last year. The Walkmen last performed in Colorado at the Ogden Theatre on Jan. 21.

Bauer told the Washington Post that the Walkmen members will continue to make music as solo artists.

The Walkmen’s final two planned shows are Saturday at Union Market in Washington, DC and Dec. 4 at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer.
