DENVER—Denver police are investigating after an officer accidentally slammed his patrol vehicle into a parked pickup truck in a residential neighborhood.

John Henley tells KUSA-TV ( ) he was awakened by a “big thump” at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, went outside his home on Monaco Parkway and found that a police car had crashed into his brand new truck. Henley says the officer told him he was looking down at his in-car computer when the accident happened.

Sgt. Steve Warneke, a spokesman for the police department, says “accidents can and do happen and sometimes we’re at fault.” He added that the officer involved could face consequences.
