This bitter-cold snap isn’t going to end for quite some time, with no sign of a temperature above freezing in the metro area until next week.
Forecasters say it is going to be a cold weekend with possible snow and highs not getting past the teens in Denver.
So bundle up for both rounds of the downtown Parade of Lights (8 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday) as well as Sunday afternoon’s Broncos game.
After record lows both Wednesday and Thursday, when temperatures hit 15 degrees below zero, Friday will be partly sunny but cold, with wind-chill values as low as 9 degrees below zero and a high near 8 degrees, according to the National Weather Service based in Boulder. Friday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around minus 4 degrees.
There is a 30 percent chance of snow in the afternoon on Saturday, with accumulations of less than a half inch possible. The high is forecast to be near 18 degrees.
Wind-chill values may be as low as minus 1 degree during the day.
Saturday night, there is a 40 percent chance of snow. Skies will be cloudy, with a low around zero, according to the Weather Service.
The record low for that date is minus 13 degrees set in 2005, according to the Weather Service.
Sunday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow, with a high near 14 degrees.
Sunday night, there is a 20 percent chance of snow before 11 p.m., with a low around minus 3 degrees. The record low for that date is minus 14 degrees, set in 1919.
Monday’s high is forecast to be near 19 degrees, with a low around 6 degrees that night.
