The whooping cough epidemic in Colorado is continuing to grow.
Whooping cough is also known as pertussis. It is a highly contagious respiratory disease that causes uncontrollable, violent coughing.
Seven schools in Weld County are reporting at least one diagnosed case of pertussis, according to the Weld County Health Department.
Douglas County Schools sent a letter to parents this week warning them about the pertussis outbreak.
