ESTES PARK — It’s no secret that the devastating mid-September floods had a serious impact on the tourism industry in Estes Park and nearby Rocky Mountain National Park.

Now, park officials have numbers that show exactly how severe that impact was.

“The numbers for September and October were, not surprisingly, extremely dramatic,” said Rocky Mountain National Park public information officer Kyle Patterson.

The number of visitors to the national park dropped 52 percent in September and 70 percent in October over the same months in 2012. Overall, there were 427,376 fewer visitors in September and October than in 2012.
