CANON CITY, Colo.—Canon City schools superintendent Robin Gooldy says officials have changed a 6-year-old boy’s school record to call it misconduct for kissing a girl instead of sexual harassment.

The change was made after to parents of the student and the principal met to discuss the issue after the student was suspended.

The girl’s mother, Jade Masters-Ownbey, told the Canon City Daily Record ( ) on Wednesday that the school district did a great job protecting her daughter from repeated harassment from the boy.

First-grader Hunter Yelton was given a two-day suspension, with a sexual harassment infraction on his discipline record. The boy’s mother, Jennifer Saunders, insists the punishment was too harsh.
