GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Three people have been found dead following the crash of a small plane in western Colorado.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office says the wreckage was found early Friday in a remote area east of Collbran, about 5 miles from the nearest road.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the single-engine Piper PA-24 crashed Thursday.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. The cause hasn’t been determined.
KJCT-TV reported () the plane took off from the Mesa Mack airport to check on livestock on nearby Grand Mesa Thursday. The Civil Air Patrol began searching for the plane after it was reported as overdue.
