IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo.—A third lane is opening on eastbound Interstate 70 from the Twin Tunnels to U.S. Highway 6 to relieve some of the congestion in the mountain corridor.
The Colorado Department of Transportation says improving the Twin Tunnels is the first of several projects designed to improve safety and mobility along the interstate.
Crews have completed the expansion of the eastbound bore of the Twin Tunnels on Interstate 70 just east of Idaho Springs and it is open to traffic on Friday.
