Berthoud Police Chief Glenn Johnson resigned this week amid allegations he knew that one of his officers allegedly beat a child and that Johnson did nothing about it.
Johnson allegedly committed child abuse, which had been caught on tape and sent to Johnson.

“In light of the continuing internal review of operations of the police department under chief Johnson’s command, he expressed his desire to step aside in order to allow the town to move forward based upon its evaluation of whatever recommendations come out of the review,” according to a statement posted on the town’s website Wednesday.
No charges have been brought against Johnson. The investigation is ongoing.
