DENVER—A Colorado State Patrol trooper is recovering after her patrol car was hit by a van while she was investigating a crash in Adams County.

The Denver Post reports ( ) Trooper Adeline Roybal was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 70 with her overhead lights activated when her vehicle was hit by the van at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

Roybal was taken to an Aurora hospital with serious injuries, but she has since been released.

The 40-year-old driver of the van also was hospitalized with serious injuries.
