LONGMONT, Colo.—A memorial statue of a Civil War soldier in Longmont that was damaged by vandals is expected to be replaced by Veterans Day.
The Mountain View Cemetery board has decided to put up a copy of the statue at a cost of about $62,000. Most of the cost is covered by insurance.
The Longmont Times-Call reports () the statue was broken and the stone head was severed when at least seven people went on a spree that damaged more than 100 headstones over the summer.
