GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A 50-year-old poker champion from England who killed his wife and dumped her body in western Colorado in 1997 has applied to serve his sentence closer to home.
Marcus Bebb-Jones was sentenced in May to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Sabrina. He reported her missing in 1997 when the two owned a hotel in Grand Junction. A rancher found her skull in a remote wooded area in Garfield County in 2004.
Bebb-Jones’ mother, Pamela Weaver, tells the Kidderminster Shuttle newspaper in the U.K. that she’s been unable to visit her son since March 2011 because of travel costs.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports ( ) prosecutors fear Bebb-Jones could be paroled sooner if he is transferred to England.
