New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie can live with potentially losing a shot at the White House, but the latest fallout from a bridge-closing scandal may be his lowest moment.

On “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” Tuesday night, Christie’s idol — Jersey-born rocker Bruce Springsteen — made fun of him. At length.

Dressed in identical red bandanas and jeans, Springsteen and Fallon sang a parody of “Born to Run” that mocked the controversial closing of several lanes of the George Washington Bridge in apparent political retribution.

“In the day we sweat it out on the streets stuck in traffic on the GWB,” went one line. “They shut down the toll booths of glory ‘cuz we didn’t endorse Christie.”

The skit cuts extra deep because Christie is a Springsteen mega-fan who , a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.

After he finally got a hug from Springsteen at a Hurricane Sandy event in 2012, Christie said he  thinking about it.

This time, there might be tears of a different kind.
