The most sensitive dude in hip-hop reminded fans on “Saturday Night Live” last night that Aubrey Graham isn’t just a rapper, but an actor and singer. People often forget that started out as “Wheelchair Jimmy” on the teen high school drama “Degrassi.” Years later, Drake got a chance to show off his acting chops, kicking off his SNL opening monologue with a reenactment of his Bar Mitzvah.
In an effort to get as much bang for his buck, Drake decided to do two cuts with every performance for a total of four songs in two segments. Drake submitted a hyped take on “Started from the Bottom” with a smooth transition into the new jam, “Trophies.” Fans were treated to an alternate and poignant performance of “Hold On We’re Going Home.” Less fireworks and more waterworks, Drake performed the track as a dramatic candlelit dinner version. Wrapping up the night, Drake received a little help on “From Time” with a show stealing duet with Jhené Aiko.
