Getting your player ready...

Interview with Colette Wagner, owner/director

How did you get involved in this business?

I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and teaching for more than 30 years in the Jefferson County area. Now that my boys are older, I decided to live my dream and open up my own dance studio where I can be creative and have a place where people can go to build confidence and self-esteem while dancing.

What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

We strive to build quality technique, performance and character through a strong repertoire of performing arts at a reasonable price so that everyone can enjoy the art of dance. We believe that dance is a crucial element in promoting personal and interpersonal skills, self-expression, maturity, discipline, teamwork and — most important — positive self-esteem, self-confidence and empowerment. We offer classes for both the recreational dancer and the competitive dancer.

What do you like best about your line of work?

I really enjoy working with people and sharing my love of dance. I am happy that I have a place where people can go, whether it is to work out in fun fitness classes, to dance and perform around town or to compete in local and national competitions. The studio is a place where people can go and relax, have fun and make new friendships. I really like seeing all the joy we bring to families and to watch each dancer grow in the art of dance. We love to perform around town, and it’s great to see the audience really enjoying the shows.

What is your business’ biggest challenge?

Even though I am not new to dance, we are a new business so we are still growing. We want to get the word out that we are here and offer a very professional dance and musical theater program for all ages (3 years and up) and that we have a fun fitness program as well. We also want to let people know that we perform and have a competitive dance team.
