Lotta laughs in Aspen
The Aspen Laff Festival is Feb. 20-22 at the Wheeler Opera House. New voices in comedy with stand-up and improv events take over the Wheeler each night. Prices and times vary.
Indie film fest
The ninth annual Durango Independent Film Festival is Feb. 26-March 2. The weekend includes workshops, parties and events and, of course, movies. Different film festival ticket packages are available for various prices.
Ice fishing competition
Grand Lake’s third annual Catch and Release Ice Fishing Contest is March 1-2. Prizes are given for lake, brown and rainbow, with cash prizes for the top five winners. The weekend includes door and raffle prizes, a welcome party and a fisherman’s feast. Entry is $35, or free for those under 14. or 970-798-8021
Ski Joring in Leadville
Leadville’s Ski Joring weekend is March 1-2. The weekend of Ski Joring — where a horse and rider pull a skier — includes competitions, a winter mountain bike race, Nordic sprints, a paintball biathalon, children’s contests and more. This is a dog-free event.
