DENVER—Foresters are preparing to test the urban forests of Broomfield and Denver for the tree-killing emerald ash borer insect.

Boulder officials on Tuesday said the bug has been found in five of 38 square-mile parcels of land that contain city-owned ash trees.

According to the Denver Post (), a survey last year estimated there are 330,000 ash trees in Denver that could be at risk.

The bug is blamed for killing tens of millions of trees in 21 other states.
