Instead of performing material from their new album “After the Disco,” which is out today, helped celebrate the Beatles Week on Late Night with David Letterman.

The duo that is James Mercer from the Shins and producer/DJ Danger Mouse brought a lo-fi version of “And I Love Her.” Complete with a ghostly synth line, the cover stayed true to the Broken Bells sound while properly celebrating the Beatles.

The five nights of performances on the show are to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles playing on the Ed Sullivan show (Letterman currently occupies the very same theater). The original footage of the Beatles’ performance played in the background while Broken Bells paid tribute. The Flaming Lips will round out the celebratory week.

The Broken Bells start their tour (sans a Denver date) later in February. Watch the phenomenal performance below:
