Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson has been suspended without pay for two games Tuesday for a slashing incident on Feb. 8 against the New York Islanders.
Johnson slashed Islanders forward Frans Nielsen at 12:09 of the third period.
According to a , Johnson was suspended because the slash was “violent and directly across the hands,” causing an injury to Nielsen.
This is the first suspension in Johnson’s career. He has seven goals and 17 assists this season.
