, the band of sisters hailing from Los Angeles and signed the Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint, has shared a cover of ’s hit, “XO.” Performed on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, the siblings cover the fan favorite from Beyonce’s self-titled album, changing the pop hit into a synth-rock ballad.
Vocally the sisters add a bit of melancholy angst to the verses, but it comes across as demure and appealing. The Beyonce track, , was written by Ryan Tedder of Denver’s OneRepublic.
Haim is known for its elaborate covers of artists from Sheryl Crow to Fleetwood Mac and even Miley Cyrus. For “XO,” Haim offers a sweeter approach to the original. Beyonce has released the video for “Partition,” signaling the Timbaland produced track as the latest single off her surprise visual album “Beyonce.”
Haim’s debut album, “Days Are Gone,” came out last September and has received rave reviews and broke the Billboard 200 charts. The band stops in Denver on May 21 at the Ogden Theatre.
