Interview with Lisa Walter, owner.
How did you get involved in this business?
Selling cookies at local craft shows. Every year I began selling more and more. Exciting, however, challenging with just a home oven. This led me to begin renting a certified kitchen, which also led me to open a weekend bakery. I continued to work my full-time job. Just this year, I was able to quit my full-time job and will be opening my bakery full time starting in May.
What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
This is a “made-from-scratch” bakery, using only quality ingredients, such as real butter and real vanilla.
What do you like best about your line of work?
Of course, I love being my own boss. I also love being able to create something delicious to share with my customers who have become such wonderful friends.
What is your business’ biggest challenge?
I am very limited on how many baked items I can produce with just one oven. This is why I am so excited to be moving into a larger kitchen with more equipment.
Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
Most of my new customers are very surprised when they walk into my bakery. The smell of freshly-baked cinnamon rolls along with a country charm decor really makes them feel welcomed.
