SALT LAKE CITY—A coalition of Utah ski resorts is announcing plans for a series of interconnected lifts that would link up seven ski areas and give the state a Euro-style experience.
Ski Utah plans to outline the ambitious plan in a Wednesday afternoon news conference in Salt Lake City.
This isn’t the first time Utah ski resorts have discussed the idea of linking the resorts, but officials appear to be further along in plans this time.
Backcountry skiers oppose the idea, saying it would encroach on their territory and put novice skiers in dangerous conditions. The U.S. Forest Service has said it’s opposed to selling land for the lifts.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports () this latest plan calls for the lifts to be built on private land.
