SnowBall music festival saw fewer arrests than previous years and smaller crowds, according to Denver Police and Sports Authority Field officials. An estimated 7,500 fans per day attended the three day music festival, which took place for the first time at Denver’s Sports Authority Field at Mile High on April 4-6. Three individuals were arrested during the three days, all for possession of a controlled substance. Six other offenses were reported ranging from theft, to assault and drug possession. One person was ticketed for urinating in public, according to Denver Police.

“It was a good weekend all around in terms of both medical and security,” said the venue’s general manager Andy Gorchov, who oversaw security for the event. “There was nothing out of the normal for an event of this type. We were pleased with the overall behavior of the crowd.”

Gorchov added that he’d be happy to have Sports Authority Field host the event again if it chooses to return to Denver in the future.

After bouncing to different locations in the mountains, SnowBall moved to Denver this year from Grand Park outside of Winter Park where it was held in 2013. At the 2013 festival, 19 arrests were made — ranging from possession of controlled substances and assault on a peace officer, according to Winter Park police. During the 2012 festival in its previous home of Avon in Eagle County, SnowBall logged 140 arrests during three days, and 43 in 2011 in the same location. SnowBall 2013 had an estimated 10,000 guests per day, according to festival organizers.

Before the event, SnowBall founder Chad Donnelly said he would as soon as possible.

“My original dream was to hold the festival in the mountains, and certainly it wasn’t harder on anyone than me to make the decision to move the festival,” Donnelly said.

Headliners at SnowBall 2014 included Pretty Lights, Busta Rhymes, GRiZ and Knife Party.
