The legend of hat continues. The forest ranger-inspired hat made its debut on “Saturday Night Live” to celebrate the 41st birthday of the producer/singer. In support of his full-length solo album, “G I R L,” Pharrell was the musical guest on SNL this weekend, bringing a string-backed performance of “Marilyn Monroe” and a kid-friendly “Happy.”

Like some sort of “Glee” episode, Pharrell performed the extra-peppy “Happy” with a host of kids as backing dancers. He upped the ante with “Marilyn Monroe,” bringing Hans Zimmer to conduct an all-female string section. Not to be outdone by previous musical guests, Pharrell, appeared as a judge with Keenan Thompson and Taran Killam wearing the infamous “Buffalo Girls” hat.
