A 22-year-old man was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison Thursday for beating and attempting to sexually assault a teenager whose home he entered last year.
Xavier Sebastian McDaniel, 22, was sentenced to 24 years behind bars after being convicted of three felony counts in an attempted sexual assault and attack of a 15-year-old girl in Littleton on April 4, 2013, according to a news release from the Jefferson County district attorney’s office.
McDaniel walked into the teen’s home by way of an unlocked front door and beat her while trying to sexually assault her, according to the release.
The teen was able to struggle and escape, but suffered severe injuries from the confrontation, authorities said.
McDaniel had a previous record of sex-related offenses.
Police found violent pornographic videos on McDaniel’s smartphone along with evidence he was researching information on chloroform online.
