An unidentified person on the Fort Carson base in Colorado Springs acted in a “suspicious and threatening” way Wednesday afternoon during a medical appointment, prompting a building to be evacuated.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. at which time “statements were made that suggested the individual may be in possession of a weapon,” according to a statement from Fort Carson authorities.
The building supervisor excavated the area and notified authorities.
The base was never on lock down, officials said.
The individual was later detained without incident.
