As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, more than 30,000 ballots were turned in and 31 percent had been counted, making it the largest voter turnout in West Metro Fire Protection District history.
, had garnered 5,327 “no” votes and 4,724 “yes” votes.
If approved, the measure would generate about $8.6 million a year for the fire district’s general operating expenses.
West Metro Fire Protection District has 247,648 people within its service area and employs 332 full-time firefighters, who staff 15 stations over 110 square miles.
