• Because of a reporter’s error, a story about increases in the state’s payroll that appeared on Page 1A of the April 9 edition of The Post incorrectly stated that Colorado officials conceded an increase in at-will employees cost the state $21 million. The state said the $21 million payroll increase from 2012 to Jan. 2014 covers all state employees, classified and at-will. In addition, a paragraph that summarized an interview with Kathy Nesbitt, the executive director of the state’s personnel department, stated “Nesbitt said the state was having trouble hiring IT workers and the public supports more at-will employees because the hires mirror the way it’s done in private business.” Nesbitt said she did give both of those justifications, but in separate parts of the interview.

• Because of a reporter’s error, a story on Page 1A on April 25 did not properly attribute authorship of a poem. “Syria” was co-written by Amal Kassir and Ashlynn Damers.

• Because of a reporting error, a story that appeared Sunday on the Business section front, Page 1K, incorrectly reported the source of some water that will supply development at Sterling Ranch in Douglas County. The water will come from wells south of Castle Rock.

• Because of a reporter’s error, a May 4 story on Page 1B about efforts to clean soil contaminated from oil and gas drilling incorrectly described the number of wells drilled each year. An average of 2,934 wells were drilled each year in the past decade. In 2013, there were 1,864 wells drilled.
