In a performance mirroring the show he put on in 2013, Estes Park senior Forrest Beesley again captured the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events at the Class 4A boys state swimming championships Saturday at the Edora Pool Ice Center in Fort Collins.

Beesley, who will attend UNLV, posted nearly identical times as last year, falling just 0.01 seconds short of his 50 freestyle time and 0.06 seconds from his 100 time.

Air Academy claimed its third consecutive team championship and set classification records in the 200- (1:26.49) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:06.84) events. Brennan Mays won the 500 freestyle and junior Hunter Doerr, who was a part of both relays, also helped the Kadets with a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle and a fifth-place effort in the 100.

Team runner-up Thompson Valley was led by Jack Thorne, who captured two individual titles. The junior took home the top prizes in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Daniel Graber had a big day for D’Evelyn. The junior won individual titles in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. He also helped the Jaguars win the 200 IM relay.

Mullen senior David Hoffer concluded his prep career by winning the 1-meter diving crown with a score of 556.10, just three points short of the Class 4A record.
