Georgetown gem

Georgetown’s Hotel de Paris Museum, 409 6th St., is celebrating its 60th anniversary as it opens its doors for the season May 24. The museum is a National Trust for Historic Preservation site and offers tours of its 7,000 square feet of restored Gilded-Age rooms including a dining room, kitchen, library, salesmen’s rooms, guest rooms, private quarters and a wine cellar. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday through Sept. 30 and weekends Oct. 1 through Dec. 14. A fair amount of family offerings

Fairmount Cemetery is hosting several family activities May 24-26 in celebration of Memorial Day. Safety is the key word May 24 as the Denver Fire Department brings a fire truck and “smoke trailer” to the grounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tips on bike and car-seat safety are offered and the Flight for Life Helicopter from Denver General Hospital will land around 12:30 p.m. Refreshments, a bounce house and a giant slide are also included.Historic tours led by Fairmount staff begin at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 25. Mining old and new

The Victor Lowell Thomas Museum opens its doors for the summer season May 24. Tours of the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company begin May 25 and continue through Sept. 1. The tours offer a first-hand look at the modern mining operations in the large surface mine between Victor and Cripple Creek. Tours are offered daily except Thursdays. The cost is $7.50 per person and children must be age 5 or older. Admission includes gold panning. Reserve your spot by calling 719-689-5509 or visit .
