Swimmer Hennessey Stuart of Regis Jesuit High School and distance runner of Niwot were selected as the student-athletes of the year Wednesday night in a banquet at The Denver Athletic Club.

The award honors the top male and female athletes who excelled in the areas of high academics, outstanding athletics and considerable character.

The other boys finalists were: wrestler , Ponderosa; quarterback , Fairview; running back and Christian McCaffrey, Valor Christian; and lineman , Wiggins.

The other girls finalists were: basketball player , Regis Jesuit; volleyballer Whitney Krantz, Arapahoe; golfer Calli Ringsby, Cherry Creek; and volleyballer , Doherty.

The DAC’s athlete of the year was Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker.
