Intellectual property attorney Russell Slifer has been named regional director of the Denver U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which is scheduled to open June 30 in the Byron G. Rogers Federal Building.

Slifer has practiced intellectual property law for 20 years, including the past eight years as chief patent counsel for Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho. He also was a design engineer for Honeywell and, for more than nine years in private law practice in Minnesota, helped high-tech clients, including individual inventors, universities and Fortune 100 companies, build patent portfolios, the U.S. Patent office said in a blog post Monday.
