Pancake party

Butter up to IHOP for its latest promo. In celebration of its 56th anniversary, the diner serves up a short stack of buttermilk pancakes for only 56-cents on Tuesday. The discounted pancakes are flipped from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at participating locations. Limit one short stack per customer. The price is just a few pennies less than its original price of 60-cents back in 1958.

A ‘moo’-ving freebie

If you’re in the “moo’d” for a little fun and don’t mind a few stares, stop by Chick-fil-A during its annual Cow Appreciation Day. On Friday, dress up like a cow (Longhorn, Dairy, Hereford … it’s your choice) from “head to hoof” and you’ll be happily rewarded with a free combo meal at participating locations. Not so bovine brave? Partial cow attire will still get you a free entrée. Plus, “calves” receive a free kid’s meal. No costume handy? Check out the “Cow Starter Kit” on the Chick-fil-A website for a quick fix.

Inside scoop

To celebrate the oh-so-cool National Ice Cream Month of July, Blue Bell Ice Cream will be dishing free full-size scoops of the sweet stuff to all. Choose from traditional flavors or the July-only special, Magic Cookie Bar. Its big blue trailer (aka ice cream parlor on wheels) sets up shop all over town. You’ll find it Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the DTC blood drive (5050 S. Syracuse); Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Denver Botanic Gardens (outside the entrance); Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shops at Northfield-Stapleton; Saturday in the afternoon at The Wildlife Experience; and July 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Children’s Museum of Denver.

Brain freeze

Freeze! Relief from hot summer temperatures is as close as your nearest 7-Eleven. The ubiquitous convenience store celebrates its 87th birthday by giving all customers a free small Slurpee on Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Many stores may drain their Slurpee machines early, so plan accordingly. Limit one per customer, while supplies last. With so many locations, finding one should be easy, no extra change for the brain freeze.

Each Monday, Laura and Bryan at compile “Cheap Checklist” to help find deals, discounts and freebies. Know of a deal? E-mail info@milehighonthecheap.com 10 to 14 days in advance.
