The owners of a in Englewood appeared in court Tuesday and had a no-contest plea denied.
The Englewood City Attorney is seeking a guilty plea in the case, according to an Englewood Police Department media release.
A new pre-trial conference has been set for Aug. 11.
On May 16, a 10-year-old dachshund named Sebastian was killed by a loose pit bull in a convenience store parking lot.
The pit bull dashed inside the 7-Eleven Store, 3131 S. Broadway, when the front door opened and grabbed Sebastian, who was on a leash and had been hiding behind his owner’s mobility scooter.
The owner of the pit-bull, a 28-year-old woman, told officers her dog had escaped a yard and it was not aggressive towards people, only other dogs.
The owner was issued an Englewood Municipal Summons.
